A quick report from the Point today

Just wanted to give everyone some good news about the bay. The water is looking great, especially around the kitchen. The salinity is high and the water is green. We started out on the south in of the kitchen then over to the east end of Marsh Island, which had the best looking water. We then headed around to south point, picked up a nice flounder, but got ran off by a thunderstorm. Headed east once again and fished the platforms around Point Marone, then back towards the kitchen. We managed to pick up some reds, specks and a flounder. We did catch a lot of fish but never could seal the deal on catching them steady, it seemed each stop had 2 or 3 then you would have to move. But on a good note, the bay is beginning to turn around and the fish are beginning to stage up and move in. I would say at any moment its really going to get hot. Bait of choice today was white jig head bounced off the bottom with bait shrimp and a chartreuse sparkle beetle. Good luck if you decide to go. And be careful of the extra boats on the water, Shrimp season opened today in Vermillion bay.
